It was quite the weekend for Titan Athletics.
Cal State Fullerton women’s cross country team won the first Big West Championship in program history on Saturday, Nov. 2, while women’s soccer came back down 1-0 Sunday, Nov. 3, at Titan Stadium to defeat CSUN by a score of 2-1 to win the Big West Championship.
Men’s soccer also advanced to the Big West Tournament with a win over UC Riverside on Saturday, Nov 2.
Cross country head coach John Elders credited the student-athletes as well as the coaching staff and the athletics leadership team for supporting the program that led to the team’s historic championship win.
“This is a huge day for us as a program,” Elders said.

For women’s soccer, it is the program’s first title since 2015 when the team claimed a share of the title. It is the ninth title in program history.
“I’m absolutely impressed with our women and how, every day, they have impressed our coaching staff with their resilience and dedication to our plan,” coach Demian Brown said. “Being able to go through our Big West conference is an absolute measure of success for our program.”

Cross country will compete at the NCAA West Regionals on Friday, Nov. 15 in Colfax, Wash. The women’s soccer Big West Tournament will be played at Titan Stadium Nov. 7 and 10. The men’s Big West Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 6, 9 and 16 at various campus sites.
