Marc Stein ’91 (B.A. communications), a sports reporter for the New York Times and recent Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, has been covering the NBA for 27 years.
Recently, during the broadcast of Cal State Fullerton mens basketball team’s defeat of UCLA, announcer Bill Walton asked Stein about his Titan experience.
“Cal State Fullerton is the Harvard of journalism schools on the West Coast. That’s why I went there,” Stein said.
“I cannot overstate how well I was prepared at Cal state Fullerton to go into journalism. Our program was littered with young journalists, (and) all of us were working professionally at the time,” he said. “(Cal State) Fullerton got me ready for the pros better than everywhere I could have gone in my profession.”
