From joining student organizations and attending baseball games to studying abroad and meeting new people, Cal State Fullerton’s first-year students are looking forward to the fall semester.
More than 11,000 students and 1,200 parents and supporters registered for summer orientation, hosted by the Department of Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation. Participants were able to select in-person, hybrid and virtual attendance options.
This year, CSUF introduced a new format for orientation, grouping students by major to help them build peer connections. The university also launched CSUF 101 sessions, led by current students who have firsthand knowledge to guide incoming Titans as they navigate campus life, academic resources, wellness programs and more.
Sociology majors Alexa Carmona and Issy Diaz met at orientation and said they are excited to get involved in campus organizations and explore study abroad opportunities.
“I am looking into student government because I’m thinking about going into law,” said Carmona. “I like the idea of being able to advocate for people who can’t speak for themselves.”
“I want to join a club that works with children because I am considering a career in teaching,” said Diaz. She said that the financial aid she received was a key part of her decision to attend Cal State Fullerton, adding that she was happy to learn about the university’s Division I baseball program.
“I love the community here,” said Diaz. “I’m most looking forward to meeting new people.”
Business administration majors Zachary Baker and Jay Nguyen accepted their admission to Cal State Fullerton because of the strong reputation of its College of Business and Economics.
“I chose Cal State Fullerton because it has a great business program and my goal is to create my own business and earn a real estate license,” said Baker.
“The university is known for its alumni networking and top accounting program,” said Nguyen, who would like to pursue two concentrations within the major.
Incoming business administration major Lauren Murillo shares why she chose CSUF.
“Orientation is a special time at Cal State Fullerton. It marks the beginning of every student’s unique journey as a Titan,” said Christin Johnson, associate director of outreach, recruitment and orientation. “It’s truly meaningful to witness students making real connections and starting to see themselves as part of the Titan family.”
The orientation experience will continue into the fall semester, with Welcome Week designed to help students explore campus resources, get involved and feel at home at Cal State Fullerton.
