President Mildred García will give the keynote presentation on “Why Diversifying Faculty Matters” and serve as moderator of a panel discussion on “Growing the Pool of Diverse Faculty Candidates: Development of Students and Faculty Panel” at the fourth annual Deans’ Forum on Hispanic Higher Education Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The forum follows the 29th annual Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Conference Oct. 10-12 in Miami.
Speaking at the conference:
Silas H. Abrego, CSUF vice president emeritus for student affairs and a member of the CSU Board of Trustees, will deliver a morning keynote address during the 14th annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute Oct. 10.
Maria V. Dela Cruz, project director of (STEM)², and Sam Barrozo, retention specialist in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, will deliver “(STEM)² as a Model for Hispanic Transfer Student Success.”
Caren Bautista, STEM teaching coordinator in the Center for Careers in Teaching, will co-present “Success! Strengthening Collaboration Through Effective Data-Based Decision Making” with representatives from Santa Ana College, Fullerton College and UC Irvine.
