This fall, Cal State Fullerton’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) offers a series of free, public musical performances and a lecture series focused on the history of American music from Sept. 8 through Jan. 9.
Jazz Series at Florentine’s Grill, features live music performances and a discussion about the history of the genre and a particular theme. Music is provided by Joe Lawton, Mike LeVan and the Docs. Children are welcome. The Saturday 12:30-2:30 p.m. programs are held at Florentine’s Grill, 102. N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, 92832. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The schedule:

At Cal State Fullerton, the Musical Performances series showcases the talents of musicians, vocalists and dancers within OLLI as well as members of University’s School of Music. Performances are held 2:15-3:45 p.m. Tuesdays in the Ruby Gerontology Center’s Mackey Auditorium, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831. Note special day and time for the Dec. 5 performance. The Great American Songbook: The History of American Music lecture series focuses on the development of American music and composers of some of America’s most popular songs. The noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday programs are slated for Sept. 8 and 22, Oct. 6 and 20, and Nov. 3 and 17 in Mackey Auditorium of CSUF’s Ruby Gerontology Center, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831.
On-campus parking is $8 for a daily permit Monday through Friday. Parking is free after 5 p.m. Fridays and on weekends. Details are available online.
