Just as California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White was delivering his annual State of the CSU address last week, efforts were underway to bring one of his agenda items to the head of the class: getting young people — especially those who come from disadvantaged families — on a fast-track to college.
As part of a communitywide partnership program, and with leadership from CSU Trustee Emerita Margaret Fortune, an innovative concept in K-12 education is gaining ground: development of schools that provide early immersion in college classes and college culture. More on the effort is available here.
