During her time at Cal State Fullerton, Class of 2012 graduate Katie Hennessey worked for the Daily Titan, served as the College of Communications representative for Associated Students Inc., was a member of Titan TV and provided campus tours. She also completed internships with MTV, KCAL/CBS and NBC while working at Nike as a sales associate.
Upon graduation, she accepted a position as a media operator for ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut.
From there, Hennessey transitioned to Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, where she worked on marketing and publicity for such films as “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Black Panther,” “The Jungle Book,” “The Lion King,” “Cinderella,” “Coco” and “Frozen II.” Rising in the ranks from executive assistant to senior publicist, Hennessey used a forward-thinking approach to advance Disney’s overall marketing strategies.
In 2020, Hennessey returned to Bristol, Connecticut, to join ESPN’s talent production group. She currently is a senior talent producer, working as the lead college daily appearances producer and across marketing projects and events that include the iconic “This Is SportsCenter” commercial campaign. Hennessey received two Emmy awards for her work on “SportsCenter” and a Clio bronze award for her work on “This Is SportsCenter.”
She has also been part of countless entertainment premieres and upfronts, Golden Globes, Oscars, MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Movie and TV Awards, Television Critics Association Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, Toronto Film Festival, San Diego Comic Con, D23 and Super Bowls.
Hennessey resides in Bristol, Connecticut, with her husband, Jonathan, who is an Emmy award-winning associate director at ESPN. She gives back to the CSUF community by taking informational meetings with students, speaking at welcome to campus events and most recently, creating the Hennessey Family Scholarship for the College of Communications.
