Gaining a Better Understanding of China’s Insurance Market

What:               

Qixiang Sun, dean of Peking University’s School of Economics, will discuss “China’s Insurance Market Today and Tomorrow” in a special Jan. 13 program sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Insurance Studies and Arden Insurance Services.                         

Presentations will cover the country’s current and future insurance market, how Chinese insurance carriers invest abroad, foreign and domestic investments in the Chinese market, insurance market differences between inside and outside free trade zones and commercial health insurance and tax-deferred pension insurance in China.

Speaker:          

Qixiang Sun, founding chair of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Peking University, has served on the board of governors of the Asia Pacific Risk and Insurance Association and held all elected offices including that of president of the association. In addition, she is vice chairman of the Insurance Institute of China, director of the China Insurance and Social Security Research and a board member of China’s Finance Study Committee. Sun has been a visiting scholar at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Harvard University and the National Bureau of Economic Research.
