Edward Hernandez, a first-generation student at Cal State Fullerton, was awarded the prestigious Fund for Education Abroad Rasmussen Family Scholarship.

There were over 2,700 applications for the FEA Scholarship, and Hernandez was one of 96 award recipients. This accomplishment acknowledges his academic dedication and his passion for international exchange.

Hernandez is majoring in computer science with a minor in Japanese. In the fall, he will embark on a study abroad trip to Japan through CSUF’s Exchange Program with Nanzan University.

“I’ll be finishing my minor in Japanese at Nanzan with a focus on taking classes regarding Japanese business etiquette,” said Hernandez.

Outside of academics, Hernandez is looking forward to exploring Japan. He’s excited to climb Mount Fuji and visit Nara City, a historical city full of cultural treasures and ancient temples.

“I think the most important part about studying abroad is that it’s very different than a typical two-week vacation,” said Hernandez. “You will be spending a few months living day-to-day like native college students would, and that is an experience that doesn’t come along often.”
