Erwin Amouzou Ametodji is an international student at Cal State Fullerton who will be graduating this summer. Born and raised in Belgium before moving to West Africa at age 13, Ametodji chose to study at CSUF based on the recommendation of his brother and cousin, who were both attending the university and had great things to say about the campus.

Inspired by the creativity in CSUF’s College of Communications, Ametodji began studying communications with a concentration in advertising.

Outside of excelling in his communications classes, Ametodji became involved in various groups and organizations around campus, including the Black Student Union and CSUF’s African American Resource Center. He was also dance captain for the Nigerian Student Association, a host on Titan TV, a DJ on Titan Radio and an intern for Titans Athletics.

With his time at CSUF coming to a close, Ametodji reflected on his favorite parts about being a Titan.

“It’s difficult to pick one because it’s a whole experience,” he said. He added that he’s enjoyed the California weather, which reminds him of home, the friendliness of the people whom he’s made connections with, and most of all, the faculty.

“I think if I had to choose one favorite thing, it would be the professors. The professors within my department were just amazing,” said Ametodji.

When discussing why other international students should consider studying at CSUF, he said: “It’s always nice to get out of your comfort zone and learn about a different culture and language. And it brings you a different perspective on life. You learn about yourself. You learn about your strengths and your weaknesses, and then you get stronger and stronger.”
