David Sandner, Cal State Fullerton professor of English, comparative literature and linguistics, is the co-author of a new fantasy and science fiction novel titled,”Egyptian Motherlode.”

“Egyptian Motherlode” is a story about American music. In the novel, a mystical musician known as The Prophet uses music to bend reality and contact other realms. The novel takes readers on a wild ride through 20th-century American music, from jazz and blues to psychedelic rock and funk. The book follows The Prophet’s life and transformations as he learns and grows. It also tells the stories of the family, friends, bandmates and enemies that he changes on the way to his final journey to the edge of space and time.

“Egyptian Motherlode” was co-written by Sandner and Jacob Weisman and will be published by Fairwood Press in November 2024.

In addition to his new work, Sandner recently published a novella, “His Unburned Heart,” in May, which tells the story of Mary Shelley and her quest to claim her husband’s heart when it didn’t burn on his funeral pyre. He is currently working on a novel about Shelley. Sandner has published numerous short stories and poems.
