Computer Science Student Conducts AI Research Through Summer Internship

Share This:

Sally Dinh is an international student from Vietnam studying computer science at Cal State Fullerton. Over the summer, Dinh participated in an artificial intelligence research internship through Stanford University’s Computer Science LINXS Summer Research Program.

Throughout the internship, Dinh expanded her skills and learned about new techniques, algorithms and methods used in AI research. She also participated in social events, workshops and industry tours, where she visited such companies as Apple, Toyota Research Institute, Zipline and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

“This has been the most memorable summer in my journey as a college student,” said Dinh. “I’ve learned a lot of new things and have beautiful memories.”

Dinh said it was a valuable professional and personal experience, and she encourages other students to not let similar opportunities pass them by.

“When the computer science department sent information about this research internship opportunity, I felt like this was something I wanted to do, and I applied right away. If I didn’t apply, I never would have had the chance to be admitted,” said Dinh.

As a member of CSUF’s Women in Computer Science and Engineering program, Dinh added that she hopes more female students will pursue computer science.

As a senior, Dinh’s next goal is to complete her bachelor’s degree in computer science. She plans to pursue a career in a field that matches her interests in computer science with a focus on AI for practical applications.
