The Faculty Development Center’s Writing Across the Curriculum program recognized Natsuki Atagi as the 2025 Student Writing Mentorship Award recipient.

Atagi is an associate professor of child and adolescent studies, provost’s faculty fellow, and scholarly publications faculty fellow at CSUF. She received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from UCLA and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Psychology at UC Riverside.

Her scholarly work aims to understand how exposure to linguistic diversity during childhood shapes language, literacy and cognitive development, and her expertise in language learning informs her writing pedagogy and mentorship. In addition to using principles of writing-to-learn in the courses she teaches, she has supported students in successfully submitting to research conferences, completing honors projects and research pathway programs, as well as applying for graduate programs and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
