Cal State Fullerton’s Fraternity and Sorority Life made history during Greek Week 2025, raising an astounding $72,550 and collecting 13,877 donation items to support vital services across campus.
United under one cause, all four FSL governing councils — the National Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council — came together in a spirit of collaboration during a fundraising campaign that began on CSUF’s Day of Giving and concluded April 18. Their efforts benefited the ASI Children’s Center, Basic Needs Services, and the Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers’ Gender Affirming Closet.
“Cal State Fullerton’s Fraternity and Sorority Life demonstrated remarkable community engagement during Greek Week 2025,” said Edwin Alarid, assistant director of CSUF Fraternity and Sorority Life. “This significant contribution underscores the impactful role of student leadership and collective action within the university.”
“Greek Week is a weeklong program dedicated to fostering unity and relationships between Fraternity and Sorority Life and other departments at CSUF,” said Aaron Tapper, ASI assistant director of strategic initiatives. “Adding an element of friendly competition with events, such as kickball and spirited chants, infuses an exciting energy throughout the week.”
Driven by student leadership and grassroots involvement, the week featured a variety of engaging activities including tabling along Titan Walk, a dodgeball tournament, a Family Feud-style game show in the Titan Gym, and a spirited FSL chant competition cheered on by children from the Children’s Center. The week wrapped up with a group outing to an Angels Game, with physical donations collected at each event across campus.
“We work from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. that entire week to make sure everything runs smoothly,” said Olivia Ireland, a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. “On Friday, they announced how much money we raised, and the kids from the Children’s Center joined us, which was my favorite part of the event.”
The $72,550 in funds raised was gifted to ASI Children’s Center, which was chosen as this year’s beneficiary due to its direct impact on the children of CSUF students, faculty and staff. The support provides access to reliable, affordable child care and strengthens the broader campus community by fostering academic and professional success for parents. The contribution will help enhance the center’s programming, services and physical space — creating a lasting, positive impact on young children within the Titan family.
In addition to the financial contribution, 13,877 items were donated to campus service centers, including 3,917 items to Basic Needs Services, 2,295 items to the ASI Food Pantry and 7,665 clothing items to the DIRC Gender Affirming Closet
This year’s initiative was marked by tremendous collaboration among campus groups. Key contributors included Fraternity and Sorority Life, the ASI Pantry and Children’s Center, DIRC, Student Life and Leadership, and Titans Athletics, which helped support programming and donation drives at the Titan Gym and across the university.
Supporting Student Families
The ASI Children’s Center is a vital campus resource that provides affordable, high-quality child care for CSUF students, faculty and staff. By offering a safe and enriching environment for children, the center empowers student who are parents to pursue their academic and professional goals with greater peace of mind. Lydia Palacios, director of the Children’s Center, expressed gratitude for the support and excitement for the impact it will have.
“We’re planning to update and furnish our outdoor classroom equipment,” Palacios said. “This is a great area to focus on because we understand the need for our kids to be outside and explore with the appropriate materials.”
A Growing Partnership
The collaboration between Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Children’s Center began three years ago and has steadily grown — fueled by increased planning, broader participation and expanded goals.
Last year’s fundraising enabled the installation of an outdoor shade tarp, providing a more comfortable play environment for the children. This year, Greek Life raised more than six times that amount, unlocking new opportunities for enhancing the center’s outdoor space and educational offerings.
This increase in philanthropic impact reflects a growing awareness across campus of the unique challenges faced by student-parents. Alongside campus partners, the Greek Life community has embraced a shared mission to raise awareness and offer tangible, lasting support.
