David Sandner, professor of English, comparative literature and linguistics, has been nominated for a prestigious Shirley Jackson literary award for best novelette.
The nomination is for the story of “His Unburned Heart,” a book published by award-winning horror publisher Raw Dog Screaming. The story concerns Mary Shelley, the author of “Frankenstein,” and her husband’s heart, which did not burn on his funeral pyre.
The Shirley Jackson Awards celebrate the best in literature of psychological suspense, horror and the dark fantastic. The awards honor Shirley Jackson, author of “The Lottery,” “The Haunting of Hill House” and other classic works. The award winners will be announced at Readercon, a literary conference held in Massachusetts in July.
