CSUF Police Department and TitanHEALTH Offer Self-Defense Class to Community Members

Share This:

CSUF Police Department and TitanHEALTH are collaborating to host a fall 2025 self-defense class designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to protect themselves against forms of assault.

The three-day course will take place Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to noon and is available to individuals who are at least 12 years old.

All instructors who teach the Rape Aggression Defense classes at Cal State Fullerton are nationally certified by RAD and are either CSUF police officers or officers within the California State University system. The goal of these classes is to provide students with realistic options and techniques to protect themselves.

Community members who participate in the course wear a RAD Systems Student Suit, which is equipped with a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, body guard and gloves to keep them safe in simulation scenarios.

RAD is taught at over 450 university police departments, sheriff and municipal police departments, military bases, and independent agencies in the U.S. and Canada. The program is designed to teach self-defense techniques; engage in hands-on instruction; and promote awareness, prevention and risk reduction.

RAD states its programs are designed to “establish an accessible, constantly improving and internationally respected alliance of dedicated Instructors. These instructors, in turn, will provide educational opportunities for women, children, men and seniors to create a safer future for themselves.”

The course is available for a suggested $25 donation, which covers course materials, equipment and continued education for instructors.

Those interested in participating in the course can register using the Smartsheet form available on the police department’s website.
