In a testament to the power, vitality and impact of accounting education at Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy reported that CSUF ranked third in the nation among universities with the most candidates sitting for first-time core sections of the Uniform CPA Examination in 2024. The recognition was highlighted in the October 2025 issue of Accounting Todayone of the world’s top accounting professional publications.

Vivek Mande, director of the School of Accountancy, notes the significance of this high ranking as it speaks to the quality and status of the school and college.

“This indicates that we place a significant focus on graduating licensed professionals who will be active in the accounting industry,” said Mande, chair and professor of accounting. “It speaks to our curriculum, which has to be rigorous so our students will be exam ready. It also signals we have processes in place for our students to be prepared for licensing.”

Among these are signed agreements with Becker, a CPA exam preparation service that provides a significantly discounted price to business Titans. The first 50 students in an unofficial CPA exam review class also receive a $500 scholarship toward their professional licensing. Additionally, a designated faculty member holds CPA exam information sessions each month, with messaging communications to all accounting students that they should take this exam for their professional betterment.

The School of Accountancy at Cal State Fullerton supports undergraduate programs in accounting as well as top-notch M.S. in accountancy programs designed to meet the goals and needs of students. Because of the accounting program’s trendsetting leadership, Cal State Fullerton’s business college is the only dual-accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for both accounting and business administration generally in Orange County.
