The organization The Campaign for College Opportunity honored Cal State Fullerton and 39 other California State Universities and California Community Colleges as Pathway Champions. These 40 Pathway Champion honorees have excelled at strengthening the transfer process for thousands of California students.
The colleges and universities are awarded for their efforts implementing two policies:
- Equitable placement in California Community Colleges’ transfer-level coursework (as noted in California Assembly Bills 705 and 1705)
- Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) implementation to simplify the transfer process between community colleges and CSUs
This year, Pathway Champion honorees are recognized across four categories: Pathway Champion of Placement, Pathway Champion of Placement Equity, Pathway Champion of Transfer and Pathway Champion of Transfer Equity.
CSUF was recognized as a Pathway Champion of Transfer for California State University Campuswide ADT Implementation. The honor means over half of the university’s 2024 incoming undergraduate transfer students earned an associate degree for transfer, and that over half of those associate degree earners were on a guaranteed pathway. San Diego State University, Cal State LA and Cal State Long Beach were also recognized in this category.
The university was also named a Pathway Champion of Transfer Equity. As a top CSU campus in implementing the ADT program for Latinx students, CSUF ensured that half of its 2024 incoming Latinx undergraduate transfer students earned an associate degree for transfer, and that over half of those associate degree earners were on a guaranteed pathway. This category also honored Cal State Los Angeles, San Diego State University, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona and Sacramento State University.
