The top-seeded Cal State Fullerton Titans Softball team capped off the weekend as the 2026 Big West Champions with a 1-0 victory against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.

The team finished its season with a 40-13 overall record and 24-3 in Big West play, including an undefeated performance at the second annual Big West Championship. This is the program’s 21st Big West regular-season championship win.

The Titans Softball team was led to victory by Head Coach and CSUF alum Gina Oaks Garcia, who was named the 2025 Big West Coach of the Year.

Pitcher Leanna Garcia was named the 2026 Big West Championship MVP after pitching a seven-inning shutout against No. 3 seed UC Santa Barbara. Garcia was one of six Titan student-athletes named to the Big West All-Tournament Team, including Colby McClinton, Ava Arce, Sarah Perez, Eva Hurtado and Trisha McCleskey.

The CSUF softball team was selected to the NCAA Los Angeles Regional after earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This marks the program’s 33rd NCAA Tournament appearance, and its first since 2024 at the Stanford Regional.

Cal State Fullerton heads into the NCAA postseason following its 3-0 run at the second annual Big West Championship, where they defeated UC Davis, 4-0, Hawaii, 6-4, and UC Santa Barbara, 1-0. The team is slashing .340/.398/.501 with 475 hits, including 69 doubles, six triples and 48 home runs, while scoring 316 runs and driving in 281 runs.

Defensively, the Titans have turned 32 double plays, the sixth most in the U.S. and rank 24th nationally with a .975 fielding percentage. The team’s 40 sacrifice bunts also rank 17th in the country.

Hosted by No. 8 national seed UCLA, the regional will take place May 15-17 at Easton Stadium in Westwood, where the CSUF softball team will compete alongside South Carolina, Cal Baptist and UCLA. The Titans begin the regional May 15 against No. 2 seed South Carolina, and the 4:30 p.m. game will be broadcast on EPSN+.
