On April 17, Erualdo González, professor of Chicana and Chicano studies, participated in Purpose in Practice: Community-Engaged Teaching Across the Curriculum, sponsored by the California State University Chancellor’s Office Center for Community Engagement.
This virtual faculty showcase highlighted practical, adaptable community-engaged teaching strategies across disciplines. González presented on how Barrio Studies connects service-learning to democracy and public policy through a partnership with a civic engagement organization.
It was an honor to have González represent Cal State Fullerton at this systemwide event. He has taught service-learning for more than 10 years and remains actively engaged in numerous community development and story mapping projects on campus and in the broader community.
