With college essentials packed in moving bins and family and friends cheering them on, approximately 2,600 new and returning students settled into their campus homes during Cal State Fullerton’s Move-In Day on Saturday.
Families, friends, university leaders, faculty and staff came together to welcome the students to campus for the 2026-27 academic year and connect them with resources that will support their professional and personal growth.
President Ronald Rochon joined the celebration and encouraged students to make the most of their college experience by getting involved and exploring opportunities across CSUF.
“This is your campus and your academic home,” he said. “We are excited about you and what you will do here.”
More than 500 of the students are the inaugural residents of Jewel Plummer Cobb Hall – the newest addition to Housing and Residential Engagement. The six-story, 512-bed building is home to continuing and graduate students as well as student-athletes.
Neida Garcia was among the first group of students to move into the new space. Garcia said she chose Cal State Fullerton because of its community feel and campus beauty, so she was amazed to see that her new apartment overlooked the globally recognized Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
“As a transfer student from Santa Barbara City College, I was nervous to move to campus. But I have already found a community of friends, and I have amazing roommates, which is exactly what I was looking for,” said Garcia, who is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in psychology and aspires to a career in social work.
In addition to the building’s modern and wellness-focused design, Garcia said the location is ideal because it provides easy access to campus activities and support, like the arboretum, Titans Athletics venues, and the Counseling and Psychological Services Cedar Wellness Room.
At Move-In Day, students and their supporters also got a firsthand look into CSUF’s vibrant extracurricular scene. The Office of Student Life and Leadership invited students to get involved in CSUF’s signature clubs and organizations. Additionally, students learned about campus resources offered by the Pollak Library, Alumni Association, the Division of Information Technology and more.
For civil engineering student Breanna Huerta, the high level of access, support and community has made Cal State Fullerton stand out.
“Everyone on campus is so helpful,” said Huerta, who moved into Jewel Plummer Cobb Hall with the help of her parents and three siblings. “Whether you’re an outgoing person or more introverted, there’s something here for everyone.”
