Pollak Library will host several events from Oct. 5-8 for Banned Books Week. Beginning at noon each day, the programming will feature a movie showing, panel, workshop and more.
Enjoy free snacks, giveaways and conversations celebrating the freedom to read.
Oct. 5, noon-2 p.m., Pollak Library, Room 130 — Movie Monday
Movie Monday will feature a showing of “Banned Together,” a documentary that explores book bans and curriculum censorship in public schools. Free popcorn will be provided.
Oct. 6, noon-1 p.m., Zoom — Banned Books Panel
Kick off the Pollak Library’s first Noon Time Talk of the fall semester with Jason Shepard, dean of the College of Communications, and Joyce Gomez-Najarro, professor of literacy and reading education. Oct. 7, noon-2 p.m., Makerspace Commons — Zine Workshop
Create a zine inspired by banned books, censorship and freedom of expression. Materials and snacks will be provided.
Oct. 8, noon-2 p.m., Pollak Library Lobby, Reader’s Advisory
Titans who need their next read can stop by to meet with a librarian for personalized recommendations and find a new book. The event will also feature snacks and a giveaway raffle sponsored by Target and organized by CSUF’s Diversity Initiatives & Resource Centers.
