Titans can try everything from ceramics to conducting during Arts Week 2019. The theme for the April 8-12 schedule is “Follow Your Art” and puts visual and performing arts on full display.
“Through the theme ‘Follow Your Art,’ students build community and strive to enhance creative expression. It provides students a space to nurture their individual passion and inspire new ways of learning,” explains Maricela Alvarado, assistant dean for the College of the Arts.
The week begins with an oboe and string quartet master class and free performance April 8, 10 a.m.-noon at the Clayes Performing Arts Center, followed by Arts Week Kick-Off! along the walkway between the Pollak Library and Titan Student Union. The noon kick-off fair features displays by CSUF and off-campus artists, as well as food, puppies, an obstacle course and other interactive activities.

How I Followed My Art: Alumni Speaker Panel
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Titan Student Union, Portola Pavilion C
Alumni share their experiences pursuing careers in art. The program is presented by Laura Neal, college career specialist for the College of the Arts, and the CSUF Career Center.
Wednesday, April 10
Photography Lecture: Catherine Opie
Noon-1:15 p.m., Titan Student Union, Portola Pavilion C
Camera Absurda presents renowned fine arts photographer Catherine Opie, whose work documents American life with an emphasis on sexual identity.

Thursday, April 11
Artist Lecture: Lita Albuquerque
Noon-2 p.m., Titan Student Union, Portola Pavilion C
Internationally renowned Light and Space artist Lita Albuquerque speaks about her work — an exploration of humans’ place in the universe through installations, environmental pieces, painting and sculptures — and participates in the opening reception for the master’s level exhibition “Painting, Drawing and Much More.”
Glass Demonstration
1-4 p.m., Visual Arts, Room B130
The Glass and Metal Club of CSUF demonstrates the mastery and skill it takes to create glass works of art.
Friday, April 12
Ice Cream Social
Noon-2 p.m., Visual Arts Center courtyard
Attendees participate in the traditional painting of the ice cream sculpture and enjoy free ice cream and paletas.
Cello Master Class
1-4 p.m., Clayes Performing Arts Center, Room 170
The CSUF Cello Council presents a master class and workshop with Ben Ullery, assistant principal viola of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Arts Week 2019 is hosted by Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts, in partnership with the Arts Inter-Club Council and other campus entities.
