For Cal State Fullerton students, there’s one more reason to head to the Student Recreation Center as Associated Students Inc. launches its first-ever Train for Gains challenge until March 15, which will reward students who regularly use the SRC with the opportunity to win prizes.
To enter the Train for Gains drawing, students must register at the SRC front desk or Titan Recreation website and complete 25 workouts or wellness activities at the SRC. Each visit earns one point, tracked by scanning a bar code at the front desk.
“The SRC hopes to encourage students to prioritize their health and well-being,” said Leilani Castillo, SRC member service and outreach coordinator.
According to CSUF’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, an analysis focused on SRC usage data in 2023-24 observed that students who visited the SRC 41-80 times a semester had slightly higher average term GPAs than students who visited less or more times.
Anyone who completes the program by earning 25 points will be entered into an opportunity drawing, which will take place at an end-of-challenge celebration event. Students will have the opportunity to win one of 12 prizes, which include a CSUF parking pass, or a choice between a $100 Amazon gift card or a $100 Titan Shops gift card.
“Being a part of ASI, a student-serving organization, we care about CSUF students and want to see all students thrive and succeed,” said Castillo. “We want to empower students’ academic success. We know that students who utilize all the great services and programs that the SRC has to offer do better in the classroom.”
Whether students use the climbing wall and pool or choose from over 50 group fitness classes, they can complete the Train for Gains challenge in multiple creative ways. CSUF students of all majors are encouraged to participate, bettering their health while striving for valuable prizes.
