Business administration student Trisha Tran Truong was selected as the fall 2025 recipient of the Auxiliary Services Student Employee Scholarship, which recognizes a student employee who demonstrates academic dedication, leadership and a strong commitment to serving the campus community.

Truong has been a member of the campus dining team since 2022, working at the on-campus Starbucks location. During her time there, she has progressed from a barista to a barista lead, taking on additional leadership responsibilities while helping to create a welcoming environment for fellow students, staff and visitors.

“Winning the Auxiliary Services Student Employee Scholarship means so much to me because it represents the opportunities that education can create, not just for myself, but for my family. As the second person in my family to pursue a bachelor’s degree, following my brother, every milestone carries the sacrifices my parents made for me. I’m grateful for the support from the CSUF community that allows students like me to continue pursuing our goals,” said Truong.

Balancing coursework, employment and personal commitments is a challenge many working students face. Truong’s ability to successfully manage these responsibilities reflects her determination and commitment to both her academic and professional growth.

The Auxiliary Services Student Employee Scholarship awards $1,500 annually to a qualifying student employee who demonstrates academic achievement, leadership, and involvement on campus or in the broader community. To be eligible, applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, be enrolled in at least six academic units and be currently employed by Auxiliary Services Corp.

Applicants are also required to submit a 400- to 600-word essay reflecting on moments in their lives where they have demonstrated leadership or overcome challenges through school, social or family experiences. The essay component provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their personal growth and the experiences that have shaped their academic journey.

Student employees play an important role in supporting campus operations while gaining valuable professional experience. Through opportunities like the Auxiliary Services Student Employee Scholarship, student achievements are recognized and supported as students continue working toward their educational and career goals.

Auxiliary Services Corp. at Cal State Fullerton is a nonprofit organization that supports the university through programs and services that enhance the student experience. ASC operates campus dining, retail services, Titan Shops, affordable housing and other programs that directly benefit students while providing employment opportunities for hundreds of student employees each year.
