Communications Students to Gain Frontline Media Experience at 2026 Winter Olympics

Share This:

After a successful study abroad program for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Cal State Fullerton’s Department of Communications is offering a spring 2026 study abroad program for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina, Italy. CSUF’s sports media certificate, which launched in 2023-24, continues to offer unique, career-building opportunities for emerging sports media professionals. This international hands-on experience elevates students’ resumes and storytelling skills.

Gayle Jansen Brisbane, associate professor of communications, and Bob Young, a faculty member at Arizona State University, will guide students through a transformative educational journey. The study abroad experience will propel students into the heart of the world’s premier sporting event and expose them to diverse cultures, fostering a deeper understanding of the global landscape.

Throughout the program, students will produce a variety of content, including digital, broadcast and social media stories. This approach ensures a comprehensive skill set that will uplift participants in the competitive workforce. The program will provide students with an unparalleled opportunity to expand their global outlook and hone their craft in sports media education.

To ensure inclusivity for student participation, the program is actively seeking donations to make it affordable for students and provide them with support to make this experience as successful as possible.
