Cal State Fullerton’s Strategic Communications and Brand Management team won several Council for Advancement and Support of Education 2023 Best of District VII Awards.
Strategic Communications, a unit within University Advancement, was recognized for six entries:
- Online magazines: Fall 2022 Titan magazine, is a digital magazine which features an array of exclusive stories that encompass the university’s accomplishments and the successes of its students, faculty and staff.
- Marketing: Micro-sites (Fundraising): The “It Takes a Titan Like You” website demonstrates the incredible impact of the university’s comprehensive fundraising campaign through 13 first-person student stories, a by-the-numbers video and donor testimonials that illustrate why they chose to support the campaign.
- Videos: Promotional (Short): The “Empowering Titans” video is a powerful message of one young woman’s empowerment journey toward a college degree. Her first-generation story is told in under two minutes and captures the essence of CSUF’s mission.
- Writing: COVID-related: “Under the Big Top” was a story featured in Titan magazine and focuses on stories about Cal State Fullerton theatre arts alumni who were among the Cirque du Soleil employees sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Writing: Profile (1,000+ Words): “Safe Passage for California Condors” is a story about a Cal State Fullerton alumna who tracks and studies California condors at Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge in Maricopa, California.
- Writing: Research, Medicine and Science News: “To the Edge of the Universe — and Beyond” commemorates the 10-year anniversary of Cal State Fullerton’s Nicholas and Lee Begovich Center for Gravitational-Wave Physics and Astronomy and the scientific achievements that have laid the foundation for future discoveries.
Winners were selected based on several factors, including overall quality, innovation, use of resources, and the impact on the institution or its external and internal communities, such as alumni, parents, students, faculty and staff.
Earlier this year, entries in the 2023 Council for Advancement and Support of Education Circle of Excellence awards, a global higher education communications program. The three entries honored with top awards were “Empowering Titans,” the fall 2022 issue of Titan magazine and the “It Takes a Titan Like You” campaign website were recognized with top honors.
