The YWCA of Orange County will honor Dr. Debra Stout with their 2022 Leader of the Year Award at their 30th annual Gala in February. This award is given annually to honor a woman who works passionately to make a difference in the lives of others.
In bestowing the award, Rosamaria Gomez-Amaro, YWCA OC Second Vice President, said “Dr. Stout, you are a courageous and passionate leader who constantly is moving our mission forward. You have set the bar high for persons of all ages aspiring to become leaders by generously giving your talents and time to the community. Your ground-breaking work in leading and sustaining the Fullerton Collaborative to address the needs of children and families has been extraordinary. This is especially true throughout the pandemic when the collaborative became the safety net supporting so many community non-profits and social services organizations in keeping their services accessible despite physical closures”.
Dr. Debra Stout is on the faculty at California State University Fullerton and the University of Arizona Global Campus where she teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, child development, research, leadership and human services. Today she uses her experience to assist a variety of non-profit programs in Southern California thru DoctorS Nonprofit Consulting which she co-founded with her husband Dr. Dallas Stout in 2004. Additionally, she has served as the Executive Director of the Fullerton Collaborative since 2015.
The YWCA of OC has served our community for over 100 years through the Depression, world wars, dramatic social changes and a world pandemic. Courageous women worked towards women’s rights, established childcare and domestic violence centers, youth employment, career opportunities, and college scholarships for reentry women and men 24 years or older. YWCA-OC women advocated for equal work for equal pay, reproductive rights, Title IX, and other social policies that helped women and children live a higher quality of life.
