Educators to be Honored for Making a Difference

In a tribute to educators, the College of Education is honoring teachers, administrators and community partners who have made a difference in the lives of their students and our communities at the Sunday, Nov. 13, Honor an Educator Luncheon and Ceremony.

Honor an Educator was created in 2006 as a special event paying tribute to community educators and partners who have made a difference in the lives of their students. Honor an Educator also provides scholarships for College of Education students preparing to become teachers. The noon-2 p.m. event at the Fullerton Marriott is open to the public. The college’s 2022 “Distinguished Honorees” and their awards are:

  • Distinguished Education Leadership Award: Sylvia Mendez, Civil Rights Activist
  • Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award: Amber Holloway ’12, Teacher, Davis Middle School Compton Unified School District
  • Distinguished Education Excellence Award: Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E.
  • Distinguished Education Partner Award: Newport-Mesa Unified School District
  • Distinguished Education Community Partner Award: No Limits Arts Creative
