This week, the CSUF Police Department honors and proudly recognizes the dedicated dispatchers who work behind the scenes during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
These unseen heroes are the calm in the storm, the voice of reassurance, and a vital link between the community and responding personnel. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the CSUF Police Department dispatchers are always ready to answer the call to assist a student who requests the CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) Mobile Crisis Team, a faculty member who needs a campus safety escort, or a visitor who is experiencing a medical emergency.
In 2024, the university dispatchers managed 23,399 incoming calls, which included 6,911 emergency calls. They coordinate responding officers, monitor the university’s public safety security cameras and provide life-saving instructions, all while maintaining composure, professionalism and compassionate communication.
Join the CSUF Police Department in thanking them and all dispatchers for their unwavering dedication to the communities they serve, the officers they support and the poise with which they work. It’s time to honor those who answer the call.
