Cal State Fullerton’s School of Nursing and Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia are proud to congratulate Mark Gabot on his recent induction as a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography. Gabot partners with CSUF’s School of Nursing as a Kaiser Permanente faculty member.
Gabot is the second advanced practice registered nurse to earn this prestigious distinction and the first certified registered nurse anesthetist in the nation to achieve the FASE designation. This historic accomplishment represents a significant milestone not only for Gabot, but for the nurse anesthesia profession as a whole.
The American Society of Echocardiography is the leading professional organization dedicated to advancing cardiovascular ultrasound and improving patient care through education, research and the development of clinical standards. ASE brings together cardiologists, anesthesiologists, sonographers and imaging specialists worldwide, and its evidence-based guidelines shape echocardiography practice across the globe.
Gabot began building his distinguished body of work in transthoracic echocardiography and Focused Cardiac Ultrasound two years ago, launching an innovative point-of-care ultrasound curriculum at KPSA using Intelligent Ultrasound simulators. What began as the introduction of cutting-edge POCUS education rapidly evolved into a comprehensive program, incorporating objective structured clinical examination-based assessment, advanced Mindray ultrasound platforms, live models and in-depth differential diagnosis lectures.
Beyond KPSA/CSUF, Gabot has led POCUS workshops at the national level through the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, was recently published in ASE Echo Magazine and has been appointed as the Advanced Practice Provider representative to the ASE POCUS Special Interest Group — further demonstrating national recognition of his expertise and leadership.
Gabot’s visionary leadership and pioneering contributions extend beyond students, shaping the future of nurse anesthesia practice and advancing patient safety. This is an honor for CSUF’s program, the profession and a testament to Gabot’s impact.
