The Faculty Noontime Talks continue Tuesday, Oct. 18 with Elaine Lewinnek, professor of American studies and coordinator of CSUF’s program in environmental studies. Her most recent book, “A People’s Guide to Orange County,” was co-written with Los Angeles Times journalist Gustavo Arellano and UCLA professor Thuy Vo Dang. Lewinnek’s lecture will revolve around her book, which is an alternative tour guide that documents sites of oppression, resistance, struggle, and transformation in Orange County. From lynching trees to LGBTQ+ successes, this new guidebook reveals often-unknown stories of the diversity of our past and present.
