Cal State Fullerton’s Pollak Library is celebrating Banned Books Week 2024 from Sept. 22-28, which honors the freedom to read and sheds light on the harmful effects of censorship.
To mark the occasion, the Pollak Library will host a movie night, featuring the 2018 film adaptation of “Fahrenheit 451,” a classic novel that continues to resonate in today’s discussions around censorship. The event will be held Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. in the Pollak Library, Room 130.
The official manuscripts and a first edition copy of “Fahrenheit 451” will be on display, provided by the University Archives and Special Collections.
Free popcorn and chairs will be provided, but attendees can also bring snacks, blankets and other movie night necessities. Students must bring their student IDs if they wish to check out books. Visit the American Library Association website to learn more about banned and challenged books.
