Brett Goldberg, assistant director of advocacy services and community engagement services within TitanHEALTH, received the Victim Service Award at the Waymakers 2025 Victim’s Rights Conference.
Waymakers is a community organization in Orange County that provides services and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by violent crimes. In their nomination, the Sexual Assault and Victim’s Services division of Waymakers wrote, “Brett Goldberg is an absolutely outstanding campus partner at Cal State Fullerton, raising awareness about sexual violence, partnering with Waymakers and other community agencies, and providing comprehensive, victim-centered services to students.”
The SAVS team noted that Goldberg has hosted a number of campus events, including a violence prevention conference that featured Chanel Miller as the keynote speaker. He also regularly hosts the Clothesline Project and invites the Waymakers prevention staff to tabling events on campus.
As lead of the TitanTHRIVE Confidential Advocacy Services team, Goldberg’s advocacy work is done in collaboration with campus confidential advocates Erika Alonso and Jazmin Monterrosa. Together, they have developed innovative programs to support all Titans.
One program involved master’s in counseling students employed through TitanTHRIVE becoming certified by the state of California as victim advocates. This was accomplished thanks to partnerships with Waymakers and Human Options, a community partner focused on domestic violence. The certification allowed them to gain experience working with survivors by volunteering at Waymakers and equipped them to serve the Titan community through their graduate student assistant positions.
SAVS program director Vanessa Reyna highlighted Goldberg’s facilitation of cross-training opportunities between TitanTHRIVE and Waymakers staff, enabling both teams to become familiar with one another’s protocols, and resulting in survivors feeling empowered to choose the most supportive path for their needs. “Brett has consistently created a survivor-focused culture, empowering survivors with choices and options,” Reyna said.
Goldberg also leads TitanHEALTH’s community engagement services, which is responsible for fostering collective well-being across the Titan community. Stay tuned this fall for the launch of Ready To ACT, a project from community engagement services.
