Titans Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month

Share This:

September 15 marks the beginning of Latinx Heritage Month. The acknowledgment and recognition of this month holds significance since our most recent data shows that 50% of our student body, 37% of our staff, and 15% of our faculty identify as Latina/o/x/e. Latinx Heritage Month is meant to recognize and acknowledge the multitude of voices and lived experiences in the Latinx community.

Throughout Latinx Heritage Month, you can expect a series of educational events, workshops, discussions, and performances that will honor the rich traditions and accomplishments of the Latinx community. Please visit the Latinx Heritage Month website for more information and the Latinx Heritage Month Calendar. We invite all members of the Cal State Fullerton community to participate and celebrate together actively.

In conjunction with Latinx Heritage Month, we proudly acknowledge Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Week at Cal State Fullerton, which commenced on September 11. Moreover, Cal State Fullerton’s commitment to Latinx student success has resulted in the university being named a Fulbright Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of State and a recipient of the Seal of Excelencia from Excelencia in Education, the nation’s premier authority in advancing Latinx student success. This week reminds us of our institution’s dedication to supporting and empowering our diverse Latinx community of students, faculty, and staff.

Cultural heritage months like Latinx Heritage Month are essential to our campus community for celebrating our diversity, building inclusion, empowering Latinx communities, and strengthening our university. Let us make this Latinx Heritage Month and HSI Week a meaningful time of learning, connection, and celebration. Your involvement is vital as we continue to foster an inclusive and culturally rich environment that reflects the values of our diverse campus.
