The Division of Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management and the Division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence will host “Hecho en CSUF”: Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week from Sept. 7-11. The celebration spotlights Cal State Fullerton’s servingness, its success in advancing outcomes for Latinx students and its campuswide efforts in creating an inclusive environment for all students.
Cal State Fullerton received its Hispanic-Serving Institution designation in 2004 for enrolling over 25% Latinx students. Today, more than 50% of enrolled students identify as Hispanic/Latinx/Chicanx.
HSI Week is a nationwide celebration recognized annually by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, taking place the week before the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15.
‘Hecho en CSUF/Made in CSUF’
At CSUF, Hispanic-Serving Institution student initiatives are rooted in the “Hecho en CSUF” or “Made in CSUF” theme, which revolves around pride in being educated at Cal State Fullerton and pride in the campus programs and resources that support all students. Servingness at CSUF fosters belonging, a sense of mattering and student success. “Hecho en CSUF” honors not only where students come from, but also where they are going, with CSUF as their top choice to forge their academic and professional identities.
