Team First Prize’s bicycle-wheel-designed bridge made of pasta won the Spaghetti Bridge Contest by holding 80 pounds — the most weight carried by the 18 teams competing for the top prize. The July 24 competition culminated the four-week Engineering Innovation program for high school students run by CSUF’s College of Engineering and Computer Science and Johns Hopkins University. The winning high school students are: Jack Amsbry, Polytechnic School (Pasadena); Brian Lee, Yorba Linda High School; Milind Lingineni, University High School (Irvine); and Alex Xu, Lynbrook High School (San Jose). Garrett Struckhoff, CSUF assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, was faculty mentor. More photos
