What:
The 1960s and ’70s make a comeback at this year’s Concert Under the Stars as Cal State Fullerton celebrates the music and artists of Motown. Enjoy an evening of fireworks and the classic sounds of this groundbreaking record label, responsible for such legendary songs as “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “My Girl” and “Stop! In the Name of Love.”
Proceeds from the annual event fund scholarships and student programs.
Who:
Among this year’s featured alumni performers:
- Brooke Aston Harper ’02, who fronts the band The Honeydrops and played the role of Sylvia in a national tour of “All Shook Up”;
- Emily Mitchell Lindbeck ’00, whose performance credits include “Hairspray” on Broadway, Dionne in the international tour of “Hair,” Deena in “Dreamgirls,” and Armelia in “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”
- Calvin Seabrooks ’10, an actor and recording artist who has appeared in “The X Factor” and released his first EP last year. He also has appeared in music videos for artists, including Chris Brown and Karmin.
Joining the alumni-studded cast will be The Preeminents, Cal State Fullerton’s performing troupe.

Gates open at 5 p.m.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and culminates in a fireworks spectacular.

Cost/Reservations:
Individual seats at non-catered tables start at $55. Non-catered tables for six can be reserved for $300, or for 10 at $500.
Free lawn seating also available. Reservations are requested for both table and lawn seating and can be made online.
Food/Drink:
Those who have reserved table or lawn seating can order food in advance from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit through the Concert Under the Stars’ website, purchase food from onsite food trucks or bring a picnic dinner and beverages. No outside alcoholic beverages are permitted on campus.
Sponsorships:
Table sponsorships, including catered meals for up to 10 attendees, range from $3,000 to $25,000.
Parking:
Free parking is located in lots A and G. Parking for the disabled is available in Lot A and the State College Parking Structure. VIP parking will be available for table sponsors in the State College Parking Structure. A map is available online.
