Statewide Business/Economics Teachers Workshop in August

What:

A daylong workshop for teachers from throughout California will be held Aug. 1 at Cal State Fullerton. Sponsored by the University’s Center for Economic Education and U.S. Bank, the program will feature lesson plans and tips on how to teach personal finance, economic strategies for picking stocks and how to make a business plan, as well as research on financial literacy.

  • Elizabeth Reidel, vice president, national director in the Stock Market Game Program, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation
  • Patrick Walsh, “Econ Guy” on YouTube and associate professor of economics, St. Michael’s College in Vermont
  • William Taormina of the National Startup League
  • CSUF faculty members John B. Jackson, Andrew Gill and Michael Milligan

Additional:

The program includes classroom-ready lessons, free teaching kits and the opportunity to network with fellow teachers. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon tea is provided; a nominal stipend also is available, depending on distance traveled.

Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Economic Education is affiliated with the national and California councils for Economic Education. The center offers education services to improve the level of economic and personal finance understanding in grades K-12, institutions of higher learning and the surrounding community.
