Bumpy Road Ahead

Road Construction Near University to Cause Traffic Delays
Share This:

Beginning March 7, construction is planned for several major streets surrounding Cal State Fullerton. The construction is expected to continue, on and off, for the next year.

Phase 1 will focus on the installation of new water lines along Yorba Linda Boulevard. Work will continue through April 8. During this period, the section of Yorba Linda Boulevard adjacent to the campus from State College Boulevard to Associated Road will be reduced by one lane.

During the University’s spring break — March 28-April 3 — the campus entrance at Associated Road will be closed along with the two lanes on Yorba Linda Boulevard between Associated Road and the 57 Freeway.

Phase 2, scheduled to take place after Commencement — approximately May 30 through Aug. 19 — will entail installing new sewer lines along Yorba Linda from Associated to State College. At the same time, State College Boulevard, from Nutwood Avenue to Dorothy Lane will be affected by road work. Yorba Linda Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction as will State College Boulevard adjacent to the construction.

Finally, Phase 3 involves installing sewer lines along State College from Dorothy Lane to Yorba Linda. State College Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction. Construction is expected to take place from August 2016 to January 2017.

Students, employees and visitors are asked to keep in mind that these timeframes are estimates and a number of factors could delay progress — such as weather and unforeseen construction problems.

Once construction is underway, updates will be posted on the Campus Maps and Directions website under “ALERTS.”
