College of the Arts faculty members are showcasing their talents this month with exhibits, recitals and a new album.
Lecturer Laura D. Hoffman’s ’14 ’10 (M.F.A. art-illustration, B.A. art-studio) exhibition “Unleashed” is on display through May 27 in the Titan Student Union’s Atrium Gallery, with a Saturday, April 9, opening reception beginning at 5 p.m. The exhibition, which focuses on dachshunds, was curated by M.F.A. art-exhibition design student Selena Robles.
Pianist, arranger and composer Bill Cunliffe’s new album, “BACHanalia,” uses the music of Johann Sebastian Bach as source material, as well as Cunliffe’s own take on the big band tradition. A slew of guest stars join the Grammy-winning professor of music on original takes of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” and other arrangements. The album will be released this month on the Metre Records label.
Pianist Alison Edwards, assistant professor of music, joins violinist Ernest Salem, professor of music, for a 4 p.m. one-night-only recital Sunday, April 17, at Meng Concert Hall. Tickets are available online.
