Chemistry and Biochemistry Alumni to Share Successes

Cal State Fullerton’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will host its second annual “Alumni Day” from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, April 8, featuring presentations and lectures by students, graduates and industry professionals. The event is free and open to the public.

“Engineer or Physician? A Conversation While Making Kababs,” is the topic of a      
4 p.m. keynote address by alumnus Pejman Naraghi-Arani of inSilixa Inc. in Room 1506 of Steven G. Mihaylo Hall.

Naraghi-Arani ’91, ’94 (B.S. biochemistry, M.S. chemistry), who holds a doctorate in plant pathology from UC Davis, is director of research and development at the Sunnyvale-based company.

Additional events:

  • Noon, Room 1506 of Mihaylo Hall — Industry speaker Keisuke Ikehata from Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering Inc. will present “Twenty Years of Research in Chemistry — From Polymer Synthesis to Water Reuse.”
  • 1-2 p.m., Scott O’Brien Innovation Center, Room 3230 of Mihaylo Hall — Student research poster presentations.
  • 3 p.m., Room 1506 of Mihaylo Hall — Biochemistry majors Savannah Lewis and Jeffrey Pina will give presentations about their research projects.
  • 3:30 p.m., Room 1506 of Mihaylo Hall — Alumnus and Fullerton College chemistry instructor Guy Dadson ’05 (M.S. chemistry) will present “A Second Chance.”
