Lead CSUF Researcher Discusses Gravitational Waves Breakthrough
Feb. 19, 2016
The whirlwind of recent media coverage surrounding the detection of gravitational waves continued today with Joshua Smith, director of Cal State Fullerton's Gravitational Wave Physics and Astronomy Center, being interviewed on CNET's "Tomorrow Daily."
For the first time, scientists observed gravitational waves -- ripples in the fabric of space-time -- arriving at the earth from a cataclysmic event in the distant universe. The discovery confirmed a major prediction of Albert Einstein’s 1915 general theory of relativity and opened an unprecedented new window onto the cosmos.
