Children’s and young adult author Janet Tashjian, who penned the popular “My Life as a Book” series, will give a 12:30 p.m. talk Tuesday, March 13, in Cal State Fullerton’s Pollak Library.

A book signing will follow Tashjian’s talk, sponsored by the Donoghue Children’s Literature Center. For more information, visit the library’s website.

Author Susan Straight, with Boom editor and Pollak Library faculty fellow Jason S. Sexton, will discuss California literature at noon on Wednesday, March 21, hosted by Boom California. Straight is the author of numerous books and is a recipient of the LA Times Book Prize’s Robert Kirsch Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The lunchtime conversation will focus on how reading California literature “not only informs us about the history of places we think we already know, but also trains us for resistance, instilling values essential to democracy, like stewardship and empathy, while cultivating responsible imagination,” Sexton said. The Department of English, Comparative Literature and Linguistics is co-hosting the event.

The Pollak Library also is hosting “Faculty Noon-Time Talks,” a lecture series through May, featuring CSUF faculty members. Visit online for a complete schedule.

All events, held in the library’s Rotary Club of Fullerton, Room 130, are free and open to the public. For visitor parking information, visit online.
