Daily Titan staff members recently won two first-place awards, a second-place award and three third-place awards from The Los Angeles Press Club. The awards, in addition to eight nominations, meant the Daily Titan team was named as a finalist in more college media categories than any other California university in the 2018 SoCal Journalism Awards.
Staff members won first place for best feature photo and best news writing for breaking news; second place for best news writing; and third place for best college newspaper, best news website and best feature writing.
Cal State Fullerton students have produced a campus newspaper since 1960. The immersive experience offers College of Communications students a training environment that replicates the daily deadlines and work experience in a real newsroom, so they can prepare for internships and work roles in the communications industry.
The recognition brings the total awards won by the Daily Titan staff this year to more than 60. The Los Angeles Press Club presented the awards June 24 at its 60th annual SoCal Journalism Awards event.
