Cal State Fullerton has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for growth in philanthropic giving to the institution. The CASE Educational Fundraising Award was given to only 82 colleges, universities and independent schools nationally for overall performance or overall improvement based on data submitted to the Voluntary Support of Education survey (VSE).

Out of 56 universities in its category — public research/doctoral institutions with endowments under $350 million — CSUF was one of six recognized for overall improvement. Honorees were selected on factors such as overall breadth in program areas, pattern of growth among alumni and individual donors, and the impact of the institutions’ 12 largest gifts on total support, as well as size and type of institution. A unique feature of this award is that the campus doesn’t apply for the award, but is chosen by a national panel that reviews this criteria.

Over the past five years, the university has tripled its fundraising, and for the third year in a row, has recorded more than $21 million in fundraising commitments with nearly $23.9 million recorded during the fiscal year that ended June 30. Over this same time period, the campus has reached new records in the number of gifts from alumni, parents, faculty/staff and individual donors.

“We are honored to have achieved this mark of distinction for our fundraising efforts,” said Greg Saks, vice president for university advancement. “It recognizes the outstanding professionalism and best philanthropic practices of our advancement professionals in raising funds to advance and support student success. This recognition is a credit to our campus leadership and all members of the Titan community that are committed to creating a culture of philanthropy at Cal State Fullerton.”

CASE serves more than 3,500 educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
