New Police Chief on Campus

Cal State Fullerton's new police chief Raymund Aguirre begins his tenure on campus tomorrow.

Aguirre comes to the campus after serving as chief for the San Diego Community College District Police, the second-largest community college district in California, and San Jose-Evergreen College District, where he rose in ranks from police sergeant. He also has served with the Palo Alto Police Department.

He holds a master's degree in public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, as well a bachelor of arts degree from the University of the Philippines.

Aguirre's appointment to lead the 30-sworn police officer force follows a nationwide search. In addition to sworn police officers, the department has 17 staff members to serve the campus community. The department offers live scan fingerprints, safety escorts/community services, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training, a ride-along program and safety presentations.

An official swearing-in ceremony will be held for the new chief of police at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Golleher Alumni House. RSVPs, by email to vpadmin@fullerton.edu, are requested by March 7.
