In Memoriam — John C. Reinard

A 23-year campus veteran who led the Department of Human Communication Studies for six years died Dec. 25. John C. Reinard, department chair and professor emeritus, was 70 years old.
The Cal State Fullerton alumnus was author of seven books, including “Foundations of Argument: Effective Communications for Critical Thinking” and “Communication Research Statistics,” as well as more than 100 research articles, book chapters and research presentations.
He served as executive secretary of the Western States Communications Association and associate editor for several communication journals. Prior to returning to his alma mater, he served as a faculty member and debate coach at Arizona State University.
In addition to his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CSUF, Reinard earned a doctorate from USC.
The Department of Human Communication Studies will host an on-campus memorial on Friday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m., CP-122L. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Orange, 1130 E. Walnut, Orange, 92867.
