Teachers have the ability to influence their students beyond their classrooms and into the future. Ruby Cortez had two teachers who inspired her to follow in their footsteps.
“I can only work to emulate what I learned from them and do my best in helping my own students,” says Ruby Cortez.
Cortez teaches AVID at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley and is raising funds to buy each of her students a copy of the book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey. Her actions have inspired 17-year-old Isaiah Chavez-Chappell, who hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy and wants to apply to Cal State Fullerton.
