Geologist and volcano expert Vali Memeti is taking five undergraduate geology majors to the foothills of the Andes and the Altiplano-Puna in northwestern Argentina to conduct fieldwork through geologic mapping on intrusive and volcanic magma systems.
During the three-week trip, beginning May 10, the assistant professor of geological sciences and her students — Michelle Barboza, Lizzeth Flores, David Morales, Hogan Rangel and Bayne Westrick-Snapp — will work with faculty and student researchers from USC and Universidad Nacional de La Rioja.
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is subsidizing this independent study program.
